It began in 1977. Well, it began in 1977 for fans anyway. George Lucas revealed his brainchild to the world, and it hasn't quite been the same since. The original trilogy will forever stand as a definitive part of the cinema. This was sci-fi how it was supposed to be. There was a hero, a villian, other memorable characters, great special effects, and a plot with a message. Who could ask for anything more? The original three movies will likely always be the best, though they actually comprise the middle trilogy of the whole Star Wars trilogy. We'll have the first three episodes soon enough. They may never meet fan expectations, nothing can beat an orginal because that's just the way it is. However, they'll add to it in their own way. Star Wars also defines merchandising. No matter how much people grumble about those greedy people in Hollywood, we all love to have stuff from our favorite trilogy.
