Al is a ten-year old who constantly dreams about the life of a soldier and piloting mobile suits. When the Federation secretly moves its prototype Gundam to his neutral colony, Al is introduced to the true, brutal nature of war. He befriends a young Zeon pilot, Bernie, whose mission is to destroy the Gundam, but Al's beautiful young neighbor, Chris, has returned to the colony after her military training as the Gundam's test pilot.
